FERC Issues Order Revising pro forma SGIA

On July 21, 2016, in Docket No. RM16-8, FERC issued Order No. 828 modifying the pro forma Small Generator Interconnection Agreement (“SGIA”).  Order No. 828 revises the pro forma SGIA to require newly connecting small generating facilities to ride through abnormal frequency and voltage events and not disconnect during such events.  FERC issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking suggesting this revision and requesting comments on March 17, 2016.  The revision also requires the transmission provider to coordinate the small generating facility’s protective equipment settings with any automatic load shedding program.
