On August 5, 2016, in Docket No. RM16-20, NERC submitted a petition for the approval of Reliability Standard PRC-012-2, Remedial Action Schemes. The proposed Reliability Standard implements a centralized review process for each new or functionally modified Remedial Action Scheme (“RAS”), obligates entities to complete periodic evaluations, tests, and operation analyses for all RAS, and requires the entity with a wide-area view to establish a database with pertinent information about each RAS. It also requires the entity that owns all or part of an RAS to submit RAS information to the Reliability Coordinator. Finally, it requires the Planning Coordinator to periodically evaluate each RAS within its area to verify its effectiveness.
