NERC Submits Informational Filing Regarding Reliability Standard BAL-002-WECC-2

On October 3, 2016, in Docket No. RM13-13, NERC and the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (“WECC”) submitted an information filing to FERC pursuant to FERC Order No. 789.  In FERC Order No. 789, FERC approved Reliability Standard BAL-002-WECC-2 and directed NERC to submit an informational filing two years after implementation of the filing that assesses whether the new methodology for calculating minimum contingency reserve levels has had an adverse impact on reliability in the Western Interconnection.  The informational filing concludes that the Contingency Reserves in the Western Interconnection remain adequate, showing that the Reliability Standard has not had an adverse impact. Reliability Standard BAL-002-WECC-02 became effective on October 1, 2014.
