FERC Staff Issues Electric Reliability Primer

On Dec 8, 2016, FERC Staff issued an Electric Reliability Primer. In the document, FERC staff gives (1) an overview on FERC’s role in overseeing reliable operation of the Bulk Power System, (2) FERC’s authority under Section 215 and how FERC has implemented that authority, and (3) the role of the FERC-certified ERO and its relationship to FERC and industry stakeholders. Appendices include a glossary of terms, citations to important FERC statutes, orders, and reports, and an outline of a sample reliability standard.
