FERC Approves Regional Reliability Standard BAL-502-RF-03

On October 16, 2017, in Docket No. RD17-8-000, FERC issued an order approving regional Reliability Standard BAL-502-RF-03 (Planning Resource Adequacy Analysis, Assessment and Documentation). The regional Reliability Standard BAL-502-RF-03 establishes common criteria for the analysis, assessment and documentation of Resource Adequacy for Load in the ReliabilityFirst region. In particular, the standard addresses directives from FERC to (1) add time horizons applicable to the requirements and (2) consider including a requirement that the Planning Coordinators identify any gap between the needed amount of planning reserves and the documented projected planning reserves determined from the Resource Adequacy analysis.
