NERC Submits Proposed Reliability Standard PRC-025-2

On March 16, 2018, in Docket No. RD18-4-000, NERC submitted a petition for approval of proposed Reliability Standard PRC-025-2 (Generator Relay Loadability). The PRC-025 Reliability Standard addresses setting load-responsive protective relays associated with generation Facilities at a level that will prevent unnecessary tripping of generators during a system disturbance for conditions that do not pose a risk of damage to the associated equipment. Proposed Reliability Standard PRC-025-2 supplements this standard by addressing certain relay setting application issues and by clarifying certain terminology and references. NERC also proposes that the Commission approve: (1) the associated Implementation Plan, (2) the associated Violation Risk Factors (VRFs) and Violation Severity Levels (VSLs) and (3) the retirement of Reliability Standard PRC-025-1. The proposed Reliability Standard was adopted by the NERC Board on February 8, 2018.
