NERC And WECC Jointly Submit Proposed Reliability Standard IRO-002-6

On May 30, 2019, NERC and WECC jointly submitted a petition for the approval of proposed Reliability Standard IRO-002-6 (Reliability Coordination – Monitoring and Analysis). The proposed Reliability Standard reflects the addition of a regional Variance containing additional requirements applicable to Reliability Coordinators providing service to entities in the Western Interconnection. The purpose of proposed Reliability Standard IRO-002-6 is to ensure coordination and consistency between multiple Reliability Coordinators operating within the Western Interconnection. NERC and WECC also request approval of the associated Implementation Plan and Violation Risk Factors and Violation Severity Levels. Further, NERC and WECC are requesting that the FERC act to approve the proposed Reliability Standard so it may become effective on January 1, 2020. On March 6, 2019, the WECC Board of Directors approved the proposed Reliability Standard and the NERC Board of Trustees adopted it on May 9, 2019.
