NERC Submits Proposed Reliability Standard Cip-003-8

On May 21, 2019, in Docket No. RD19-5-000, NERC submitted a petition for approval of proposed Reliability Standard CIP-003-8 (Cyber Security - Security Management Controls). The proposed Reliability Standard addresses Order No. 843. In that order FERC directed NERC to develop modifications to mitigate the risk of malicious code that could result from third-party transient electronic devices for low impact Bulk Electric System (BES) Cyber Systems. NERC also requests approval of the associated Implementation Plan, Violation Risk Factors and Violation Severity Levels as well as the retirement of Commission-approved Reliability Standard CIP-003-7. On May 9, 2019, the NERC Board of Trustees adopted the proposed Reliability Standard.
