FERC Approves Reliability Standard CIP-008-6

On June 20, 2019, in Docket No. RD19-3-000, FERC issued an order approving NERC’s request for approval of proposed Reliability Standard CIP-008-6 (Cyber Security – Incident Reporting and Response Planning), filed on March 7, 2019.  This standard addresses the Commission’s directive from Order No. 848 to develop modifications to require reporting of Cyber Security Incidents that compromise, or attempt to compromise, a Responsible Entity’s Electronic Security Perimeter (ESP) or associated Electronic Access Control or Monitoring Systems (EACMS) to the Electricity Information Sharing and Analysis Center (E-ISAC) and the Department of Homeland Security Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT). The standard also requires specific information in Cyber Security Incident reports as well as deadlines for submitting the reports. The order also approves the retirement of Reliability Standard CIP-008-5.
