NERC SUBMITS PROPOSED RELIABILITY STANDARDS IRO-002-7, TOP-001-5 AND VAR-001-6

On June 7, 2019, in Docket No. RM19-16-000, NERC submitted a petition for the approval of Reliability Standards IRO-002-7 (Reliability Coordination – Monitoring and Analysis), TOP-001-5 (Transmission Operations) and VAR-001-6 (Voltage and Reactive Control). The proposed standards originate from the first phase of work under NERC’s Standards Efficiency Review. This initiative reviewed NERC Reliability Standards and identified those standard and requirements that were administrative in nature, duplicative to other standard or provided no benefit to reliability. As part of this initiative, NERC proposes the standards identified above, as well as retirement of currently effective Reliability Standards TOP-001-4 and VAR-001-5 and proposed Reliability Standard IRO-002-6.
