NERC WITHDRAWS PETITION PROPOSING RELIABILITY STANDARD MOD-001-2

On June 7, in Docket No. RM14-7-000, NERC submitted a notice of withdrawal for its petition proposing Reliability Standard MOD-001-2 in Docket No. RM14-7-000. On February 10, 2014 NERC proposed Reliability Standard MOD-001-2 as well as the retirement of the MOD A Standards. The Commission issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking proposing to approve MOD-001-2 and retire the MOD A Standards. Since the issuance of the NOPR, NERC has completed a comprehensive review of its Reliability Standards under its Standards Efficiency Review initiative. NERC has determined that it is appropriate to retire the currently effective versions of the MOD A Reliability Standards, but without proposed Reliability Standard MOD-001-2 serving as a replacement standard. NERC has determined that the Requirements of proposed Reliability Standard MOD-001-2 are administrative in nature or relate expressly to commercial or business practices and would not advance reliability as originally contemplated.
