NERC Withdraws Proposed Reliability Standard VAR-001-6

On May 14, 2020, in Docket No. RM19-16-000, NERC submitted a notice of withdrawal of its petition for approval of proposed Reliability Standard VAR-001-6. FERC had issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NOPR) for the proposed standard on January 23, 2020 which proposed to remand VAR-001-6 based on concerns stated in the NOPR. On April 6, 2020, NERC requested the Commission defer action on its NOPR until after the NERC Board had the opportunity to consider FERC concerns at its May 14, 2020 meeting. Following this meeting, NERC has decided to request FERC’s permission to withdraw proposed Reliability Standard VAR-001-6.
