NERC Proposes Reliability Standards CIP-013-2, CIP-005-7, and CIP-010-4

On December 14, 2020, NERC submitted proposed Reliability Standards CIP-013-2 (Cyber Security – Supply Chain Risk Management), CIP-005-7 (Cyber Security – Electronic Security Perimeter(s)), and CIP010-4 (Cyber Security – Configuration Change Management and Vulnerability Assessments). The proposed Reliability Standards improve the reliability of the Bulk Electric System (BES) and address the Commission’s directive from Order No. 850 to develop modifications to include Electronic Access Control or Monitoring Systems (EACMS) associated with medium and high impact BES Cyber Systems within the scope of the supply chain risk management Reliability Standards. The proposed standards also address NERC’s recommendation to address Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) that provide physical access control to high and medium impact BES Cyber Systems.
