FERC Approves Reliability Standards CIP-004-7 and CIP-011-3

On December 7, 2021, in Docket No. RD21-6-000, FERC issued a delegated letter order approving Reliability Standards CIP-004-7 (Cyber Security – Personnel & Training) and CIP-011-3 (Cyber Security – Information Protection). These Reliability Standards address Bulk Electric System Cyber System Information (BCSI), which is information about BES Cyber Systems that could be used to gain unauthorized access or pose a security threat to BES Cyber Systems. The standards improve the reliability of the BES by clarifying the protections required regarding use of third-party solutions for BCSI.
