Samarria Dunson Joined Panel Discussion on Entrepreneurship at The University of Alabama’s Blackburn Institute

Samarria Dunson, of counsel and member of Balch’s Health Law Practice, participated in an ongoing lecture series for The University of Alabama’s The Blackburn Institute, entitled "Perspectives on Leadership: Entrepreneurship Panel." The panel discussed the importance of entrepreneurship within the community, culture and society. 

The University of Alabama’s Blackburn Institute is a civic engagement and leadership development program that focuses on improving the state of Alabama. The Institute is committed to promoting change through an intergenerational network, utilizing the past to influence current actions and future plans.  

At Balch, Samarria focuses her practice on healthcare compliance and ensuring that healthcare entities attain and maintain compliance with HIPAA and HITECH regulations. She develops policies and procedures, risk assessments, negotiates business associate agreements, and provides training to healthcare providers. Samarria has a partnership with the Alabama Medical Association to provide education on HIPAA-related issues to over 7,000 physicians statewide. She is certified by the Health Care Compliance Association in both Health Care Compliance (CHC) and Health Care Privacy Compliance (CHPC). 

Additionally, she has extensive experience in healthcare administrative law and healthcare facility regulation.
