Kye C. Handy Elected Treasurer of the Jackson, Mississippi Young Lawyers Association

Kye C. Handy, attorney in the firm’s Jackson office and member of the Litigation Practice, has been elected Treasurer of the Jackson Young Lawyers Association (JYL) for the 2020-2021 term, effective August 2020. 

The Jackson Young Lawyers Association, established in 1936, strives to foster and strengthen connections among young lawyers of the Jackson, Mississippi metropolitan area by emphasizing community, education, and service. Members of JYL are lawyers, age 37 or younger, who share a collective goal to improve the quality of life for young lawyers while serving the greater Jackson community.   

At Balch, Kye focuses on general and commercial litigation. Kye has experience in personal injury matters and municipality defense and has strong working knowledge of various types of chancery and probate matters. She regularly assists clients with employment discrimination suits and navigating complex issues involving the Mississippi Tort Claims Act and EEOC regulations.

Kye currently serves as the Diversity Chair for the Capital Area Bar Association, as well as the Lawyer in Every Mississippi Classroom Chair and District Director for Hinds Post I (effective August 2020) for the Young Lawyers Division of The Mississippi Bar. Kye is recognized as a Mid-South Super Lawyers, Rising Star.
