Greg Butrus, partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Public Policy & Government Relations Practice, was named to the 2020-2021 Leadership Alabama Class. This year’s class marks the 31st anniversary of Leadership Alabama and includes 76 CEOs and key leaders from across the state.
Leadership Alabama is comprehensive leadership and networking program designed to empower established state leaders who share a strong commitment in serving the people of Alabama. Throughout the upcoming year, the class will gather in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile to observe challenging presentations and participate in group discussions that provide members with a deeper understanding of the state’s challenges and opportunities and encourage members to engage in progressive efforts that move the state forward.
Greg advises clients in state and federal political compliance laws, legislative and regulatory policy issues, and economic development and administrative policy matters.
He is an active member of the community and currently serves on the Board of the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, the Business Council of Alabama, the American Red Cross Alabama Region, Mountain Brook City Schools Foundation, Rotary Club of Birmingham, and the 4 Little Girls Memorial Fund.
Greg is a member of the American Law Institute, the Alabama Law Institute, and the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws. He served as a member of the Alabama Constitutional Revision Commission and the Alabama Commission on Campaign Finance Reform and has worked with several other advisory commissions. Greg also serves as editor of the Alabama Election Handbook.
Greg previously served on the staff of U.S. Senator Howell Heflin. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and the Notre Dame Law School.
