Balch Partner Grady Moore Named to 2025 Leadership Birmingham Class

Grady Moore, partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and Chair of the Environmental and Natural Resources Practice, has been named to Leadership Birmingham’s Class of 2025, a program focused on educating and empowering community leaders to drive meaningful civic change.

Leadership Birmingham brings together leaders from diverse organizations to discuss and debate the region’s most pressing issues, strengths, and challenges, fostering relationships that have a lasting impact. Over the course of 10 months, participants engage in two retreats, ten monthly program days, and smaller group sessions. Each month, they delve into a critical community issue, participating in dialogues with experts, civic leaders, and corporate executives across the city. These discussions encourage class members to work together in exploring solutions to Birmingham’s most significant challenges.

Since its inception in 1983, more than 1,600 participants have graduated from Leadership Birmingham, contributing to its legacy of civic engagement and leadership development.

At Balch, Grady focuses on Clean Air Act rulemaking, permitting, and compliance issues for the energy, wood products, chemical, and manufacturing industries. Grady litigates Environmental Protection Agency and state agency rulemaking and enforcement actions and provides permitting and compliance advice to clients' complex air regulatory issues. He applies his science education and background to translate agency rulemakings and permit terms to the context of industrial planning and operations. Grady also advises clients on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) issues, including drafting Environmental Impact Volumes, Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements. He has litigated NEPA challenges on behalf of private applications for federal licenses and funding.

He is recognized by Chambers USA and The Best Lawyers in America® in environmental law.
