Ashley Cannady, Partner in the firm's Jackson office and member of the Labor & Employment practice, and Russell Dumas,attorney in the firm's Jackson office and member of Labor & Employment Practice shared insights at the National Business Institute's Webinar, "HR Best Practices: Legal Knowledge and Practical Skills."

Ashley and Russell presented on "Talent Acquisition: Recruiting, Interviewing and Hiring,"  and discussed ensuring a fair and legally compliant hiring process, job descriptions: what to include (and what to leave out), conducting interviews: questions you dan and can't ask, background checks and references: what to look for, and drafting and sending offers and rejection letters.

They also spoke on "Best Practices in Records," and discussed implementing a records management policy, determining what to keep (and how long to keep it): practical and legal concerns, controlling access to confidential files, responding to document requests, and creating a document destruction procedure.
