About Whitney
Q&A
  • What types of matters do you work on most often?
I work on all types of litigation. Frequently, these matters involve defending public utilities, chemical applicators, private corporations, and individuals against personal injury and property damage claims. I also represent health care providers and doctors in malpractice suits. My objective is to minimize the risks and intrusion of litigation.
  • What do you find most exciting about your work?
I most enjoy the strategic thinking and legal analysis that accompanies the practice of law. I like getting acquainted with the unique facts of a case and determining the best way to tell the client’s story and advocate for their position to a jury, judge, or federal or state agency.
  • What previous experiences, prior to Balch, influence your practice?

  • Property Damage Action: Defended an electric utility company against flooding of a residence and received a favorable verdict in a jury trial.
  • Personal-injury Action: obtained a successful verdict and judgment on a cross claim in favor of an investor-owned electric utility against a tortfeasor in a personal injury action.
  • Environmental Defense: filed an amicus brief on behalf of an Alabama trade organization advocating for the State of Alabama to retain primacy over its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Program and obtained favorable Eleventh Circuit decision.
