About Kimano
Q&A
  • How are you involved in your community?

One of my passions is community service. I truly believe that "[y]our greatness is not what you have, it's what you give." Following my appointment by Mayor Lenny Curry, I currently serve as a Trustee on Jacksonville’s Board of Library Trustees and I am a Fellow of the JAX Chamber’s Hightower Emerging Leaders Fellowship. Although I work full-time as an attorney, I continue my service to Jacksonville as a sworn police reservist in Jacksonville Sheriff Office's (JSO) auxiliary unit.

  • What do you find most exciting about your work?

I find my work as an attorney to be exciting because it provides me with opportunities to counsel a variety of clients from  a wide range of industries. My work is also exciting because it is intellectually rewarding and challenges me to think critically as I routinely deal with issues and laws that are complex and ever-changing. As a problem solver and student of history, I enjoy investigating facts, unearthing nuances in the law, debating principles and legal precedents, and creating new strategies for each client and case.

  • What previous experiences, prior to your work at Balch, influence your practice?

Prior to joining Balch, I litigated business, commercial, and construction defect cases and spent over a decade in public service as a sworn law enforcement officer and a prosecutor in the state of Florida.

These experiences influenced my practice today by giving me experience in conducting major investigations, interviews and interrogations, as well as in litigating and negotiating cases to disposition. Additionally, my former experience is beneficial when thoroughly evaluating facts, examining evidence, interviewing and cross-examining witnesses and other parties; as well as negotiating with all parties  effectively.
