FERC Issues Order Terminating Proceeding on Cyber Systems in Control Centers

On October 2, 2017, in Docket No. RM16-18-000, FERC issued an order terminating the Notice of Inquiry (NOI) seeking comments on possible modifications to the Critical Infrastructure Protection Reliability Standards. The modifications address the cybersecurity of control centers used to monitor and control the Bulk Electric System. In the NOI, the Commission sought comment on possible modifications to the CIP Reliability Standards, and potential operational impacts thereof, involving certain cyber strategies.
