Balch & Bingham is pleased to announce that the lawyers and professional staff of Duggins Wren Mann & Romero (DWMR), a Texas-based law firm recognized for its leadership supporting the energy sector, have joined Balch & Bingham’s Austin office. As of January 1, 2026, Balch’s 24 lawyers in Austin will expand the firm’s capabilities supporting the energy industry in Texas and across the nation.
The addition of the DWMR lawyers to Balch’s globally recognized energy practice creates a powerhouse team with an even greater depth of experience serving the energy sector. This industry expertise and dedication to client success further strengthens the value Balch delivers nationwide.
Balch, a national, full-service firm with over 240 attorneys in nine offices, has long been recognized for its work in highly regulated industries, including strength across its Energy, Environmental, Corporate & Commercial, and Litigation Practices. The 21 attorneys joining from DWMR bring specialized knowledge in energy, environmental and tax law, including regulatory compliance, contested proceedings, and policy matters across the electricity, oil and gas, and renewable energy sectors.
“Each firm’s clients will benefit from the broad depth and experience provided by the addition of the DWMR lawyers to the Balch team,” said Stan Blanton, Balch & Bingham’s Managing Partner. “We could not have found another group of lawyers who offer the expertise and talent of DWMR while sharing Balch’s client-focused culture and deep industry experience, particularly in the electricity and gas sectors. Together, we will offer exceptional depth and capability to address complex regulatory, litigation, and transactional matters not only from Georgia to Texas but nationwide, strengthening the resources and expertise we bring to every client engagement.”
DWMR shares Balch’s collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach for each client, and the combined firm unites attorneys across practices including Energy; Corporate & Commercial; Environmental & Natural Resources; and Litigation.
“Joining forces with Balch allows our team to build on existing strengths while leveraging a national platform to better serve clients,” said David Gilliland, Managing Partner of Duggins Wren Mann & Romero. “We were inspired by Balch’s 100-year history serving the energy sector and share its commitment to client success. Together, our clients will realize value from the expanded expertise, broader resources, and additional capabilities this partnership provides.”
Balch will move its existing Austin office operations to DWMR’s former headquarters at 600 Congress Avenue, Suite 2700, by March 1, 2026.
