Balch & Bingham Supports Birmingham Promise in its Mission to Empower Birmingham City School Students

Balch & Bingham is honored to support Birmingham Promise, an initiative aimed at equipping every Birmingham City School student with the tools and opportunities needed to achieve economic security, mobility, and prosperity.

As the presenting sponsor of A Night of Promise on November 9, 2023, Balch is proud to advocate for a cause that aligns with the firm’s values and goals. Recognizing that the pathway to higher education can be filled with significant barriers, the firm supports Birmingham Promise’s mission to provide students from all socioeconomic backgrounds with a fair chance at success.

"We know that education is a key to unlock a world full of opportunities," said Stan Blanton, Managing Partner. "By supporting Birmingham Promise, we are investing in the future of our community and empowering young minds to reach their full potential."

In addition to its support for Birmingham Promise, Balch is actively engaged in spearheading initiatives aimed at removing barriers to the legal profession for the next generation. One such initiative is the Susan B. Livingston Boot Camp for Success, a program designed to equip incoming law school students with the necessary skills to excel in their academic and professional careers.

Birmingham Promise aims to ensure that every graduate of Birmingham City Schools has a clear pathway to college and career success. The initiative offers scholarships that cover any tuition gaps for graduates attending public two or four-year colleges or universities in Alabama. Additionally, success coaches are available to guide students through the higher education journey. Birmingham Promise also provides paid internships for high school seniors in high-demand industries and post-graduation apprenticeships that allow students to work, attend community college, and earn valuable credentials.
