Balch & Bingham’s Alan Lovett to Join Panel Discussion at the Annual Decommissioning Strategy Forum

Alan Lovett, attorney in the Birmingham office and member of the firm’s Energy Practice, will speak at the annual Decommissioning Strategy Forum in Nashville, TN on June 17-18, 2019. This forum brings together business and government officials to learn about opportunities in the nuclear decommissioning industry.

Alan will participate on a panel with several other Energy professionals to discuss the topic, “Regulatory Oversight of Decommissioning Trust Funds.” This session will provide an update to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s agenda for using funds for decommissioning nuclear power plants and managing spent fuel. The panel will also cover the planning that goes into utilities effectively using trust funds.

Alan advises electric utility clients on a variety of regulatory and commercial issues involving generation development, acquisition, and decommissioning, electric transmission service, natural gas supply and transportation, wholesale power contracts, and retail rates. He represents nuclear facility owners and operators, including the license holder for some of the first new nuclear facility units to begin construction in several decades and purchasers of nuclear facilities entering decommissioning. In addition to representing clients before the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Alan represents large investor-owned utilities in a variety of proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state public service commissions.
