Tara Ellis, Kye C. Handy and Christy Crockett White to Present at the Women’s Foundation of Mississippi’s “She’s on Board” Leadership Program

Tara Ellis, managing office partner of the Jackson office and member of the Corporate and Gaming Practices, Kye C. Handy, attorney in the Jackson office and member of the Litigation Practice and Christy Crockett White, partner in the Jackson office and member of the Litigation Practice will present at the Women’s Foundation of Mississippi’s “She’s on Board” event on June 21, 2019. This leadership program is designed for women in the Mississippi area interested in serving on a nonprofit board. The speakers will discuss multiple facets of nonprofit board service, including what to consider before joining a board, duties of a board member, an introduction to nonprofit finance and a panel discussion about different paths to leadership.

Tara is a corporate and transactional attorney focusing on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate and financing transactions. She also has extensive regulatory experience in gaming, alcoholic beverage law, affordable housing and public bidding and public records request laws. 

Kye focuses on general and commercial litigation. She has substantial experience in personal injury matters and municipality defense and has a strong working knowledge of various types of chancery and probate matters. She regularly assists clients with employment discrimination suits and how to navigate complex issues involving the Mississippi Tort Claims Act and EEOC regulations.

Christy has over 20 years of courtroom and litigation expertise as a trial attorney on precedent-setting cases. Her primary areas of practice are product liability, toxic torts, and labor and employment law. She has defended cases ranging from complex product liability actions to multi-million dollar business disputes. Christy pioneered defense strategies for silica clients in the state of Mississippi. She has defended thousands of cases across the southeast for sand companies, respiratory protection manufacturers and suppliers, and sandblasting equipment manufacturers and distributors.
