Bea Tolsdorf and Matt Sitton, attorneys in the firm’s Jackson office and members of the Health Law Practice, presented “Negotiating Physician Employment and Recruitment Agreements” to medical residents at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. During the January 28, 2020 presentation, Bea and Matt detailed the legal constraints associated with employee and physician recruitment agreements, as well as sources of law that can create conflicts for each. They noted helpful tips to save residents time, money and prevent issues after employee agreements have been finalized.
Bea’s practice focuses on healthcare regulatory and compliance work. She provides advice to clients ranging from individual practitioners to large hospital systems on a wide variety of issues including transactional and contract matters, Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement, issues related to certificate of need, federal and state licensure and certification, professional board licensure, audits, and compliance issues such as HIPAA, the False Claims Act, Stark and Anti-Kickback.
Bea is a member of the Mississippi Bar, Health Law Section and American Health Lawyers Association.
Matt focuses on healthcare compliance with state and federal law, the structuring of business transactions for healthcare providers, and the defense of healthcare clients in commercial litigation and governmental audits. He regularly counsels institutional and individual providers to ensure contemplated business transactions are both profitable and compliant with applicable laws, including Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute.
