Katie Hood Appointed by Mississippi Governor, Tate Reeves to Serve On the Southern Rail Commission

Katie Hood, partner in the Gulfport office and member of the Litigation Practice, was appointed by Mississippi Governor, Tate Reeves to serve on the Southern Rail Commission (SRC), effective immediately and lasting the duration of his term. 

The SRC exists to engage and inform public and private rail interests in order to support and influence southeast rail initiatives. The vision of the SRC is to promote the safe, reliable and efficient movement of people and goods to enhance economic development along rail corridors; provide transportation choices; and facilitate emergency evacuation routes. 

Katie's practice focuses on a wide spectrum of general business and complex litigation matters for both governmental agencies and private sector clients. Katie’s day-to-day practice includes contract interpretation, business litigation, and environmental litigation. Recently, she has represented clients in matters related to personal injury, business entity formation and corporate transactions, and boundary disputes over Mississippi's tidelands.

Katie’s community involvement includes serving as a Life Member of the Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport; Secretary/Treasurer for the Harrison County Bar Association; Board Member for The Staton Society of the University of Mississippi School of Law; and as a prior Commissioner for the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Services. Katie was named partner in January of 2022.
