Balch & Bingham Accepting Applications for Leadership Council on Legal Diversity 1L Scholars Program

Balch & Bingham is thrilled to participate in The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) 1L Scholars Program and is currently accepting applications for first-year law students to be considered for our 2023 Summer Associate Program.

At Balch, we are dedicated to developing the next generation of lawyers, which means we are committed to preparing you for the future.  We strive to provide our law students with unique opportunities to sharpen their skills by working alongside respected attorneys and interacting with clients across many industries.  Every effort is made to expose summer associates to the “real world” practice of law through challenging and fulfilling work, professional development programming, and individualized mentorship, as well as opportunities to engage in networking events, social outings, and community service activities.

Balch & Bingham joined the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity in January, 2022, an effort led by managing partner Stan Blanton. Stan has interacted with the firm’s participants by sharing and reviewing best practices, discussing ways to advance diverse talent and redesigning internal practices to create sustainable change. 

Balch & Bingham was also proud to be named a 2022 Compass Award winner by the LCLD, recognizing our strong commitment to building a diverse organization and more inclusive legal profession.

  • Complete application.  Please continue with this application and include a copy of your Resume, Official or Unofficial Transcript, and Statement of Interest, detailed further below.
  • Resume.  Please attach a resume that includes your law school GPA and class rank (if available), as well as any scholastic honors and awards.  Also highlight significant extracurricular and community activities in which you have been involved.
  • Official or Unofficial Law School Transcript.  Your transcript should include your most recent grades.
  • Statement of Interest.  Please include a statement of interest or cover letter that discusses your interest in participating in the LCLD 1L Scholars Program.  Please also include which of the following office(s) you are interested in applying to -- Birmingham, AL; Montgomery, AL; Atlanta, GA; Jackson, MS; or Gulfport, MS
