Samantha Renshaw Named to Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham Inaugural Junior Board

Samantha Renshaw, attorney in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Energy Practice, has been named to the inaugural junior board for Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham (VLB). Her appointment will span a three-year term, during which she will focus on volunteer and philanthropic endeavors aimed at providing legal assistance to low-income individuals facing civil, family, and domestic legal issues.

In the Junior Board’s first meeting, Samantha was elected Fundraising Coordinator, a role where she will manage fundraising efforts for the Jr. Board, including leading the Fundraising Committee in the execution of those efforts.

VLB is a corps of attorney volunteers and staff members dedicated to improving access to justice for low-income residents of Jefferson County. VLB provides access to free high-quality attorneys so that low-income individuals and families can obtain critically needed legal services. Its case priorities are focused on four areas: safe housing, safe finances, safe families, and serving veterans.

The Junior Board marks a fresh initiative undertaken by VLB, and it consists of promising young professionals and law students under the age of 40. Members of the Junior Board will play a vital role in advancing VLB's mission by actively volunteering at VLB help desks and clinics, organizing an annual fundraising event, and participating in regular junior board meetings.

At Balch, Samantha focuses on regulatory, licensing, and compliance issues for nuclear utilities across the U.S. She also concentrates on privacy and cybersecurity issues, helping companies comply with state, federal, and international law.
