Balch & Bingham Further Strengthens Energy Regulatory Team with Addition of Casey Bell in Austin
Balch & Bingham is pleased to announce that Casey Bell has joined the firm’s Energy Practice in Austin, bringing more than 20 years of experience in administrative and public utility law.
Casey represents electric utilities in ratemaking, generation and transmission certification, fuel reconciliation, and regulatory compliance proceedings before state utility commissions. He also advises independent power producers, project developers, and other energy market participants on regulatory strategy, project development, and transactional matters in the ERCOT and MISO markets.
"Casey is an outstanding addition to our Energy Practice,” said Peter LeJeune, Chair of Balch’s Energy Practice. “His extensive regulatory experience advising utilities and energy companies and deep understanding of the market forces shaping the industry will enhance the practical, strategic counsel we provide.”
Prior to joining Balch, Casey served as an Administrative Law Judge with the Texas State Office of Administrative Hearings presiding over contested cases referred from the Public Utility Commission of Texas. His private practice experience includes advising clients on renewable energy development, project financing, and large-load interconnection matters, including projects associated with the growing demand for electricity across Texas and the broader region.
“I’m excited to join Balch and work alongside such a talented group of attorneys whose experience spans every facet of the energy industry,” said Casey. “The firm’s deep bench, collaborative culture, and commitment to client service position us to work together to help clients address complex challenges and opportunities during a period of significant growth and change across the industry.”
Casey received his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. He is a member of the Austin Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas.
