Magnolia Bar Association’s 2023 Boys & Girls Law Camp

Balch & Bingham is proud to serve as a Platinum Sponsor for the Magnolia Bar Association’s 2023 Boys & Girls Law Camp at Jackson State University, June 22-25, where Allison Payne, attorney in the firm’s Jackson office and member of the Corporate & Commercial Practice, will speak as a panelist.

The Magnolia Bar Association Law Camp is a four-day residential camp with a mission to provide a free program for Mississippi children ages 14-16 years old to interact with lawyers, expose them to the field of law, and provide educational and social activities that facilitate the development of values and life skills. The camp is made possible through the volunteerism of Mississippi lawyers who are primarily members of the Magnolia Bar Association.

Allison will serve as a co-panelist with other distinguished attorneys during the panel presentation, “What Can I Do With a Law Degree,” where they discuss their unique journeys to becoming an attorney and the various ways a law degree can catapult one’s career.

The Magnolia Bar Association, founded in 1955, has a membership of over one hundred Black lawyers, some who are serving as federal and state judges, city prosecutors, United States attorneys, district attorneys, assistant district attorneys, assistant attorney generals, legal service counselors and in other positions, and many who are engaged in the private practice of law.

The Magnolia Bar Association is an affiliate of the National Bar Association (NBA), the nation’s oldest and largest global network of predominantly Black American attorneys and judges. The NBA’s objective is to advance the science of jurisprudence, facilitate the administration of justice, to promote reform in the law, and to uphold the honor and integrity of the legal profession. They do this by completing various service projects throughout the year and providing continuing legal education credit opportunities. The NBA is also actively involved in mentoring students and pro bono cases.

Allison’s practice primarily focuses on corporate transactions and healthcare regulatory issues. She routinely assist healthcare clients on a wide array of regulatory and compliance issues regarding Stark law, Anti-Kickback, HIPAA, state and federal licensure and certifications, and collaborative agreements. Allison also assist healthcare clients, as well as other large and small privately held companies, with corporate and transactional matters including corporate formation, structuring, and reorganization. Allison’s experience adds a unique perspective to client issues and attributes to effective results.
