Birmingham Bar Foundation Names Jim Hughey, Fellow and Greg Cook, Life Fellow

Balch is pleased to announce Jim Hughey, Of Counsel, and Greg Cook, Partner, were elected as Fellow and Life Fellow, respectively, to the Birmingham Bar Foundation. These prestigious honors not only recognize Jim and Greg’s excellence in their practices, but their dedication to civility in the profession, commitment to the upholding the highest standard in the legal industry, and their demonstration of leadership in the Bar and the community.

Jim is a member of the Corporate Finance & Securities Practice in the firm’s Birmingham office. He has extensive experience advising private and publicly held companies regarding corporate governance matters, business planning, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters. 

Greg is a member of the Banking & Financial Services Litigation Practice in the firm’s Birmingham office. His practice centers on financial services and commercial litigation, including class action and complex litigation. He served in many different positions within the ABA Litigation Section for nearly 20 years, has been a member of the leadership for the section for a decade, and has published two books for the ABA on class actions. He is the recent author of The Fifth Edition of The Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure Annotated (Thompson Reuters) and serves on the Alabama Supreme Court Standing Committee on the Rules of Civil Procedure. Greg was named a BTI Client Service All-Star for 2017-2018 and 2018-2019.
