Lee Johnsey Appointed as Co-Vice Chair of Alabama State Bar Finance & Audit Committee and Named to Alabama Lawyers Care Task Force and Election Rules Review and Revision Task Force

Lee Johnsey, partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Real Estate Practice, has been appointed Co-Vice Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee of the Alabama State Bar and named a member of the Alabama Lawyers Care Task Force and the Election Rules Review and Revision Task Force for the 2020-2021 term.

As Co-Vice Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee, Lee will be involved in the oversight of the Board of Bar Commissioners concerning all financial matters for the Alabama State Bar and the Alabama State Bar Foundation.  The scope of the committee’s responsibilities include the supervision of capital expenditures, as well as necessary purchases for the functioning of all departments of the Bar and the Foundation. 

As a member of the Election Rules Review and Revision Task Force, Lee will work alongside other Task Force members to review the Alabama State Bar Rules Governing Election and Selection of President-Elect and Members of the Board of Bar Commissioners and provide recommendations for specific revisions to the rules. 

The Alabama Lawyers Cares Task Force was established to provide meaningful and compassionate support for those in the legal community who have experienced significant and potentially life-changing events in their lives. Lee will work to advance the mission of the Task Force by securing funds and implementing programs to assist fellow members of the bar and related bar activities.

Lee has remained an active member of the Alabama State Bar for many years and previously served as President of the Young Lawyers Section.

Lee’s practice focuses on acquisition, development, opportunity zones, ownership, management and disposition of real estate, unsecured and secured lending, corporate matters, gaming finance and operation, and tax sales. Lee has been recognized as a Rising Star Lawyer by the Birmingham Business Journal and as a Top Attorney by Birmingham Magazine and was recently named to the 2021 Best Lawyers in America: “Ones to Watch” list.
