Kimano Edwards Appointed to City of Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business Monitoring Committee

Balch & Bingham is pleased to announce Kimano Edwards, attorney in the Jacksonville office and member of the Real Estate and Commercial & Class Action practices, was appointed to the Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business (JSEB) Monitoring Committee by City Council President Terrance Freeman. Kimano was unanimously confirmed on October 11, 2022, and will serve a full term expiring in 2026.

The JSEB program is administered by the City of Jacksonville’s Equal Business Opportunity (EBO) office and is a race and gender-neutral program designed to allow small businesses to compete fairly on procurement opportunities with the City of Jacksonville and its independent authorities.

As a member of the Monitoring Committee, Kimano will ensure the City stays on target to meet the JSEB goals:

  • Ensure compliance with Program requirements and city projects.
  • Promote economic development by offering technical and educational assistance.
  • Encourage cooperative communication amongst various local agencies.
  • Establish a strong JSEB support presence in the business community and with the surrounding financial institutions.

 

Kimano focuses his practice on business, commercial, construction, and complex litigation matters in state and federal courts. He is a former assistant state attorney for the State of Florida where he managed and litigated a high volume of diverse cases ranging from municipal ordinances to felonies.
