Greg Butrus Included in Yellowhammer News 2023 Power and Influence List

Balch & Bingham’s Greg Butrus, partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Public Policy & Government Relations Practice, has been recognized by Yellowhammer News in its 2023 Power and Influence list. This annual list recognizes the top advocates, advisors and political minds advancing issues in the state of Alabama. 
 
In the list, Yellowhammer News notes, “Butrus is now one of the most sought-after lawyers in the state’s governmental affairs space. He is one of the rare members of the legal community who not only possesses a substantive grasp of the issues but also an understanding of the political players and their motivations.”
 
Greg’s practice includes advising clients in state and federal legislative matters, public policy, and government relations law; political law compliance and regulation; state and federal energy policy matters, regulations, and transactions. In addition, he regularly advises clients regarding economic development and other policy issues.

He is an active member of the community and currently serves on the Board of the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, the Business Council of Alabama, the American Red Cross Alabama Region, Mountain Brook City Schools Foundation, and the 4 Little Girls Memorial Fund. He is also a member of Rotary Club of Birmingham.
 
Greg is a member of the American Law Institute, the Alabama Law Institute, and the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws. He served as a member of the Alabama Constitutional Revision Commission and the Alabama Committee on Campaign Finance Reform and has worked with several other advisory commissions. He is cofounder and former chair of Alabama State Bar’s Elections, Ethics, & Government Relations Law Section. Greg also serves as editor of the Alabama Election Handbook.
