Chris Kimble and Dan Martin Named to Birmingham Business Journal’s Who’s Who in Health Care Law

Balch partners Chris Kimble and Dan Martin have been recognized in the Birmingham Business Journal’s 2025 Who’s Who in Health Care Law list. This annual list highlights legal professionals who play a key role in shaping Birmingham’s healthcare sector.

Chris, who is Chair of the firm’s Healthcare Litigation Practice, has been named to the list 11 years. Dan, a partner in the firm’s White-Collar Practice, has earned the honor the last three years. Both Chris and Dan continue to be trusted voices in Alabama’s healthcare sector. 

Chris maintains a regional practice throughout the Southeast that is devoted primarily to the litigation of healthcare-related issues. He regularly works with clients on matters including class actions, multi-district litigation, arbitrations, and administrative actions involving managed care liability, RICO, insurance disputes, arbitration, medical malpractice, ERISA disputes, provider reimbursement, insurance fraud and abuse, False Claims Act, willing provider laws, medical, drug and device liability, antitrust, peer review, staff privileges, contract disputes, professional licensure, and federal and state regulated insurance programs.

Dan is an accomplished litigator and trial attorney with significant experience representing healthcare providers in high-stakes white-collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation. He has successfully defended physicians and healthcare organizations in cases involving the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, and other regulatory issues central to federal healthcare enforcement. Dan has guided clients through DOJ investigations, whistleblower suits, and government enforcement actions—securing favorable outcomes in matters with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake and protecting clients’ ability to continue practicing medicine and billing Medicare.

In addition to his healthcare-related matters, Dan handles white-collar matters and complex commercial and employment litigation for clients across industries. Dan has been recognized for his expertise in Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America®, Mid-South Super Lawyers and Birmingham Magazine.
