Ricky Cox, partner in Balch’s Gulfport office and member of the firm’s Energy Practice, has been selected to serve as a Trustee for the Mississippi Bar Foundation. His nomination represents the Southern District of the Mississippi Bar.
The Mississippi Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the Mississippi Bar, dedicated to promoting legal professionalism and advancing access to justice across the state. Trustees help guide the Foundation’s initiatives and uphold its mission of strengthening the legal profession through leadership, education, and service.
Ricky’s appointment was recognized during the Foundation’s 2025 Annual Meeting and Dinner on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, held in conjunction with the Mississippi Bar Convention.
Ricky enjoys a diverse practice representing clients in a variety of utility and commercial matters, focusing primarily on state and federal energy regulation and rate proceedings; energy and utility litigation; and energy project development and transactions, including renewable energy project development and sales agreements. In addition, Ricky regularly represents clients in water and sewer utility regulation, transactions, and litigation; business entity selection, formation, and operation; corporate finance; contract negotiation and administration; mergers and acquisitions; corporate compliance activities; securities matters; and real estate transactions.
Earlier this year, Ricky was elected to the Board of the Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association, which supports energy-related charitable and community service projects.
Ricky has been recognized for excellence by Chambers USA and The Best Lawyers in America®, including being honored with the Lawyer of the Year recognition for Energy Law in Gulfport, Mississippi.
