Webinar: Key Legal Topics in Behavioral Health

Walter Boone, Patrick Everman, Christina Nuñez and Bea Tolsdorf, attorneys in the Jackson office and members of the Litigation Practice, will present during the Behavioral Health Association’s upcoming webinar “Around the Horn: Key Legal Topics in Behavioral Health” on September 14, 2021 at 1 p.m. EST. 

Walter, who leads the multi-disciplinary team at Balch & Bingham focusing on the behavioral health industry, will present of the current litigation surrounding the national opioid crisis. The largest litigation in the nation's history has produced billions in settlements by opioid manufacturers and distributors. He will report on the progress, including major settlements, fund disbursement, culture trends and upcoming trials. 

Bea will speak on the trends related to coverage of substance abuse coverage in "Are You Leaving Money on the Table? Reimbursement Related to Substance Abuse Services". Topics covered will include how inpatient and outpatient substance abuse services are covered by insurance and rules and requirements related to receiving reimbursement.

In "Defining the (Work) Relationship: Entering into Agreements with Employees" Christina will provide an overview of the types of agreements that may be applicable to common types of workplace arrangements in the behavioral health setting as well as key components and practical provisions of each agreement.

The final segment, “Keys to Consider for a Successful Business Structure”, Patrick will outline the importance in planning and implementing successful organizational structures, operating agreements, and management agreements.
