About Jena
Q&A
  • What do you find most exciting about your work?
The most gratifying part of my work is providing practical guidance to my clients and developing legal arguments clients can leverage to minimize risk. Oftentimes, an out-of-court resolution best serves the client’s interests, and I have had great success in negotiating favorable results. On the other hand, some cases cannot be resolved short of the jury and appellate processes. When that is the case, I thoroughly enjoy presenting a client’s case at trial or oral argument. I believe having a lawyer who is willing and able to take your case to the courthouse is the only way to truly protect your interests.
  • What types of clients do you represent?
I frequently represent hospitals, doctors, product manufacturers, media companies, electric utilities, businesses, and insurance companies.

Select Matters

  • Appellate Oral Argument: Presented oral argument in the Georgia Supreme Court on an issue of first impression regarding the constitutionality of Georgia’s garnishment default statute.
  • Jury Trial: Second chair in an admitted-liability automobile accident for electric utility where plaintiff sought over $1 million in damages. Jena cross-examined witnesses, including the plaintiff’s expert and argued a Daubert motion resulting in exclusion of certain expert opinions. The jury’s verdict was a fraction of the damages sought by plaintiff and less than the defendant’s final settlement offer.
  • Dismissal of Healthcare Insurance Case: Successfully argued a motion to dismiss a six-figure breach of contract claim brought by a hospital against a healthcare insurance company based on a novel contractual interpretation argument, resulting in complete dismissal.
  • Appellate Oral Argument in Wrongful Death Case: Presented oral argument on a motion to transfer venue in a wrongful death case in the Georgia Court of Appeals.
  • Results in Healthcare Litigation: Obtained favorable resolution of alleged hospital-acquired infection cases brought against hospital. Lead counsel in numerous medical malpractice actions which were favorably resolved.
