Kye C. Handy Named Recipient of 2021 Outstanding Lawyer Award by the Mississippi Bar's Young Lawyer Division

Balch & Bingham is pleased to announce that Kye C. Handy, attorney in the firm’s Jackson office and member of the Litigation Practice, has been named the recipient of the 2021 Outstanding Young Lawyer Award presented by the Mississippi Bar’s Young Lawyers Division. This award is given annually and recognizes Kye’s contributions to the Bar, the community, the state of Mississippi and the nation. 

“Kye is dedicated to improving the legal profession and our larger community,” said Tara Ellis, managing partner of the Jackson office. “This award demonstrates others’ recognition of Kye’s efforts.” 

At Balch, Kye focuses on general and commercial litigation. Kye has experience in personal injury matters and municipality defense and has strong working knowledge of various types of chancery and probate matters. She regularly assists clients with employment discrimination suits and navigating complex issues involving the Mississippi Tort Claims Act and employment discrimination laws.

Kye currently serves as the co-chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Magnolia Bar Association and the co-chair of the High School Mock Trial Competition and District Director for Hinds Post I for the Young Lawyers Division of The Mississippi Bar. Kye is recognized as a Mid-South Super Lawyers, Rising Star and was named a One-to-Watch by the Best Lawyers in America. 

The Mississippi Bar Young Lawyers Division is active in many public service endeavors. It is composed of lawyers 37 years and younger, as well as lawyers over the age of 37 during their first three years of practice. The Division works with committees that are responsible for the planning and implementation of its many projects.
