Balch Partner Jonathan Hoffmann Named to Birmingham Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40

Balch & Bingham is pleased to announce that Jonathan Hoffmann, partner in the Birmingham office, has been selected as one of Birmingham’s 2022 Top 40 Under 40 by the Birmingham Business Journal. This award is among the Birmingham Business Journal’s most coveted and prestigious honors, identifying dynamic men and women who have distinguished themselves before reaching their 40th birthday.  

A substantial portion of Jonathan’s practice is focused on consumer finance, providing regulatory compliance advice and defending individual and class action lawsuits across the country. Jonathan additionally represents clients in complex business disputes, loan workouts, and bankruptcy proceedings. Jonathan is a regular participant and speaker at national conferences where he offers insights and developments impacting the credit industry. 

Jonathan is also an experienced entertainment and sports attorney, serving as general counsel for the organizing committee for The World Games 2022. The World Games 2022 put Birmingham center stage internationally, making both an immediate and long term economic impact on the City of Birmingham. His work and strategic advice helped guide the organizing committee, not simply through a successful presentation of The World Games 2022, but also to ensure delivery of the World of Opportunity initiative, which is a commitment to devote more than one third of all spend on Birmingham-based diverse business enterprises furthering a commitment by Jonathan and The World Games 2022 of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

On top of his outstanding performance within the firm, Jonathan is dedicated to supporting our community. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and founded the Alabama Symphony Orchestra Junior Patrons, where he helped institute a sensory friendly concert which aims to reimagine the presentation of classical music so as to embrace all members of the community, particularly those with special needs. 

Jonathan received his B.A., summa cum laude, from Emory University, his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and boasts a long list of awards and accolades including previously being recognized as a 2021 Top NextGenBHM Honoree by the Birmingham Business Journal. Jonathan is also recognized as a Best Lawyers in America®– Ones to Watch and a Mid-South Super Lawyers Rising Star.
