Balch & Bingham Welcomes Corporate, Transactions and Securities Partner Katie Kimbrell to Birmingham Office

Balch & Bingham is pleased to announce that Katie Kimbrell has joined the firm’s Birmingham office. Katie brings more than a decade of experience in variety of commercial and transactional matters, as well as state and federal securities rules and regulations, including the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934 and the Investment Advisors Act of 1940.

Katie previously served as in-house counsel for Protective Life Corporation. Over her career, Katie has handled a wide range of commercial and transaction matters, in addition to leading and managing securities litigation and regulatory matters, including state and federal regulatory inquiries and exams, conducted internal investigations, and communications with state and federal regulators.  In addition, she has an extensive background in life and retirement insurance distribution matters.

Katie is a graduate of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum and the Birmingham Bar Association’s Leadership Forum. Additionally, she served as President of the Young Supporters Board of the Comprehensive Cancer Center from 2018-2019. She is an active member of the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program and in 2017, she was named a ‘Rising Star’ by the Birmingham Business Journal and a ‘Birmingham Finest’ Honoree by the Alabama Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in recognition of her work in supporting the organization’s mission.

A Georgia native, Katie earned her J.D., cum laude from Cumberland School of Law and her B.S. from the University of Georgia.
