Alina Fernandez Named Rising Star, featured by Attorney at Law Magazine

Alina Fernandez, attorney in Balch’s Jacksonville office and member of the Litigation Practice, was named a Rising Star by Attorney at Law Magazine. The publication featured an interview with Alina in its First Coast Volume 10 No. 2 issue.

The interview highlights Alina’s path to becoming a commercial litigator, her approach to client work, and how she sees the legal profession evolving in the years ahead.

From an early age, Alina knew law was her calling.  “Much to my parents’ delight,” she joked, “I turned every conversation into a mini trial, always questioning, needing a solid answer to my endless ‘whys.’”

That drive to debate and advocate naturally led her to law school—and ultimately to commercial litigation, where she thrives on strategy and problem-solving under pressure.

In the interview, Alina reflects on how real-world legal practice differs from law school.

“Practicing law involves cultivating relationships, adapting to client needs, and finding practical solutions under pressure,” she was quoted as saying. “While the concepts in law school can feel abstract, practicing law means dealing with real-world issues that directly impact clients’ lives.”

Alina also described her practice and decision to join Balch, sharing, “I was drawn to Balch & Bingham because of its strong reputation in commercial litigation. The culture is collaborative yet challenging, with a strong emphasis on professional development…. Currently, I focus on handling cases, building client relationships, and developing legal strategies.”

Alina shared a lesson that’s stayed with her from early in her career.

“Achieving success doesn’t require hostility toward opposing counsel. It’s possible to show professionalism and respect while still fiercely advocating for your client.”

Alina is an accomplished litigator with experience in civil litigation. She focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, skillfully representing clients through every facet of litigation.
