Birmingham Business Journal’s Opportunity Zones Program

Dan Ruth will serve as a panelist for the Birmingham Business Journal’s Opportunity Zones program on January 17, 2019. Dan, along with panelists from the City of Birmingham and former colleague, Alex Flachsbart from Opportunity Alabama, will discuss how Alabama and the city of Birmingham are approaching Opportunity Zones, what businesses and investors need to know about the program, and the latest on the evolving rules and regulations for Opportunity Zones.

Opportunity Zones are a new piece of the Internal Revenue Code that offers incentives to parties who invest, or operate businesses in historically low-income areas. Balch attorneys across the firm’s Corporate, Tax and Real Estate Practices, actively work with businesses and investors to offer counsel on the qualification and certification of qualified opportunity zone funds and businesses.
