Susan B. Livingston Boot Camp for Success 2026
On July 23-24, 2026, Balch & Bingham hosted our annual Susan B. Livingston Boot Camp for Success to equip incoming law students with the necessary tools to succeed in law school and throughout their professional careers. The program focused on attracting promising students from groups facing significant barriers while entering the legal profession.
During this in-person, two-day program, students gained a better sense of the law school classroom experience, received practical tips and advice from judges, in-house counsel and leaders from a variety of backgrounds, networked with Balch attorneys and learned tips to enhance their academic and professional success while maximizing law school opportunities.
Eligibility
The Boot Camp is limited to approximately 50 students. All students who intend to start law school in the fall of 2026 are eligible to apply. Students selected to the program will be able to participate in the Boot Camp free of charge but are required to attend both days in their entirety. Boot Camp is held in Birmingham, Alabama. A limited stipend may be available to help offset travel and accommodation costs for out-of-state students, though it cannot be guaranteed.
Many students who participate in the program go on to credit Boot Camp for Success as a driving factor behind their achievements during law school and as a young professional.
The program was a great way to transition students into a law school environment before school began. It provided experiences that helped create a foundational understanding of what schools would expect when it comes to preparing for classes. It was also a great experience to network with students who would be in your future class. Many of the students who went to boot camp and are now in my class have become some of my good friends after attending the program together.

I really enjoyed my time in the program, especially Professor Fair’s mock class! I got to meet some awesome people, and it was good initial exposure to networking events, and curriculum.
