Law360 Highlights Balch’s Growth in Texas with Addition of Energy Partner Casey Bell

Law360 highlighted Balch’s continued growth in Texas and the strength of its energy team, including the addition of Austin-based partner Casey Bell in an article published June 17, 2026.

The firm’s continued investment in Texas follows its combination with Duggins Wren Mann & Romero earlier this year, which expanded Balch’s Austin office and further strengthened its internationally recognized Energy Practice. As part of that growth, Balch’s Austin office has grown to 26 lawyers and continues to expand.

For Casey, who worked at Duggins Wren from 2019-2025, the move represented a return to familiar colleagues within a growing platform.

“It is kind of like a homecoming, except that, once I got back home, the family had grown quite a bit,” Law360 quoted Casey as saying. “Being able to join my old partners, as well as the broader family at Balch and the national footprint the firm has, was a very enticing factor for me to make this move.”

Casey brings more than two decades of experience in administrative and public utility law and advises energy industry participants on regulatory strategy, project development, and transactional matters.

"We already had the best regulatory litigation practice in Texas, and [Casey] just adds to it," Law360 Quoted Balch Managing Partner Stan Blanton. “He's also got a foot in our ERCOT developer practice, so we're really glad to have him back."

Stan further highlighted the depth of the firm's energy capabilities, telling Law360: “There may be some firms with more numbers, but I would put us up against anybody in the energy regulatory space and particularly in the Public Utility Commission space.”

Casey primarily represents independent power producers, renewable energy product developers and data center developers as they navigate through the ERCOT process and at the Public Utility Commission.

“One of the things that brought me to Balch is the balance I am going to have,” Casey told Law360. “I am looking forward to being a part of a team that has such strong regulatory experience and a deep, strong knowledge of the energy markets as they're evolving.”
