Steven Corhern To Speak at ABA TIPS Insurance Coverage Litigation Mid-year Conference
Steven Corhern, partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Litigation Practice, will speak at the 32nd Annual Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee Mid-Year Conference presented by the American Bar Association (ABA) Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) on February 24, 2024, in La Jolla, California.
Steven will be speaking from the policyholder perspective on a panel titled, "Avoiding Traps for The Unwary—Common Issues in Additional Insured Coverage." This engaging discussion will delve into prevalent coverage matters concerning additional insureds, such as the extent of additional insured coverage, typical coverage gaps, indemnity agreements, and effective approaches to resolving coverage disputes involving putative additional insureds. The panel will also provide insights into recent noteworthy decisions on additional insured coverage and shed light on the evolving issues likely to fuel litigation in the future.
The ABA’s TIPS is the recognized industry source of knowledge and leadership on trial practice and critical issues of justice that involve tort and insurance law. It brings together trial attorneys from across the nation who share an interest in these legal areas.
Steven joined TIPS in 2018 and is currently active in the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee, where he serves as the social media vice-chair as well as the Toolbox Lunch Coordinator for 2024. Steven is also a graduate of ABA TIPS Leadership Academy.
Steven focuses on insurance coverage, mass torts, and class actions. He often helps policyholders prepare claims and regularly advises businesses on the insurance requirements and indemnity provisions in their contracts. Steven has also represented numerous organizational clients in “bet the company” litigation involving product defects, PFAS contamination, and civil rights statutes. He actively practices in both state and federal courts in Alabama and has handled appeals to the Alabama Supreme Court and the Eleventh Circuit.
