Bob Ellerbrock Quoted by DRG Regarding "Family Glitch" in ACA
Robert S. Ellerbrock III, counsel in the firm’s Birmingham, Ala., office, and member of the Affordable Care Act Strategists, was quoted in an article by the Decision Resources Group on March 7, 2016, regarding the "family glitch" in the Affordable Care Act. The article discusses a defect in the law which allows employees to access affordable employer-based coverage, but locks the family out of exchange plan subsidies. Tax subsidies are available to help eligible individuals offset the cost of healthcare, however, employees of large employers who offer benefit packages are no longer eligible for the subsidies. While the loophole has existed since the Affordable Care Act went into effect, Mr. Ellerbrock commented on the defect beginning to affect families’ health care coverage decisions.
