Balch & Bingham Welcomes Linda Landis as Counsel in the Environmental and Natural Resources Practice in Birmingham
Balch & Bingham LLP announced today that Linda Landis has joined the firm’s Birmingham office as counsel in its Environmental & Natural Resources Practice. Previously, Linda served as senior counsel to a Fortune 500 public utility in ISO New England where she handled matters related to electric power generation, including environmental compliance, complex permitting, and commercial transactions.
Linda will work with clients on matters covering a wide range of federal, state, and local environmental issues, including permitting and compliance. She has extensive experience working with federal and state regulators which will benefit clients as she works alongside them to structure comprehensive, efficient, business-focused solutions.
In recent years, Linda navigated complex environmental challenges including the management of legal issues related to one of the first-in-the-nation conversions of a coal-burning unit to biomass. Additionally, she represented several coal-burning facilities in complex permitting matters. She also has experience working with regulatory agencies to structure a multi-million dollar cleanup of a number of former manufactured gas plant sites.

Linda earned her J.D. from the University of New Hampshire Law School and received her B.A. from Duke University. She was admitted to the New Hampshire State Bar in 1994 and served for more than a decade on New Hampshire's State Bar Ethics Committee, chairing the committee for five years.
